What is xGI and why does it matter for FPL?

Expected goal involvements add expected goals and expected assists together into a player's total expected attacking contribution. For FPL it combines a player's goal and assist threat in one number, which is why it is the default sort here. Full definition: expected goal involvements explained .

How do I use xG to pick FPL transfers?

Target players whose goals lag their xG: they are creating chances without the returns, and are often better value than their form suggests. Players scoring well above xG are candidates to regress. xG, short for expected goals, is the chance a shot had of going in, from 0 to 1, so a shot worth 0.5 xG is scored about half the time and the xG of every shot added together shows the quality of the chances a team created.
